Yummy Pancakes! |
Although it doesn’t feel like it, spring is here and that means it’s
Maple In The County time! We’ve been going to this festival for many years and have gone to a lot of different venues in that time, but for us the main event is always the amazing pancakes at Honey Wagon Farms. We get to eat pancakes, check out the fire trucks and help out a good cause!

More Yummy Pancakes! |
Although he never thought it possible… it is actually possible for my son to have too many pancakes…

Uuuuuuggghhhhh Too Many Pancakes…. |
After we had our fill of pancakes (and then some) we went to check out the fire trucks. You can’t see it in this picture, but just behind this truck was a huge pool of water used by the pumper truck. I was trying to convince my son to do a Triple Lindy into it. He was pointing out that it was too shallow to jump into… I don’t think the fact that it was -10 bothered him. Luckily he’s learned that he can’t always take me seriously.

They Let The Air Out Of The Horn… BOOOOOO! |
Once my son had turned every knob, flipped every switch, and pushed every button on every truck, we made our way over to Picton to check out the kids activities there. He had a blast on the ice slide (one good thing about the cold weather!) and building with the ice blocks (until he decided to push the wall over… grrrr).

Out Of The Way! |

Easy Does It |
That was enough fun for one day, but we decided on Sunday to head down to Hubbs Sugarbush for the lumberjack demonstration. This year, they also had the sap boiling and we got to check out the operation up close.

That Was One Hot Stove |
One of my favourite parts is always the lumberjack demonstration. My son is usually a bit turned off by all the noise of the chainsaw, but once the tree climbing started, his eyes were glued to the sky (mine were too :)). When we got back to the car, he informed us that he was going to be a lumberjack. I was thinking the same thing…. but after seeing what it took to climb that tree, that pesky bulging disc in my lower back would disagree I’m sure.
