Canadian Indie Music Fest 2014 – Part 2
The Dead Sparrows |
Alrighty folks, as promised in my last blog post here’s the second set of photos from The Canadian Indie Music Fest. Today we’re looking at a couple of staples in the Quinte music scene The Dead Sparrows and Rye and Silence.
I’m stoked about these photos for a couple of reasons, but mostly (from a photographic point of view) because when The Dead Sparrows (who you may recognize from photos such as these!) and Rye and Silence hit the stage was when the light show really started to take shape. I’ve seen both bands several times and tried to shoot their live shows, but it’s always been in dark pubs or under very poor lighting. I love playing with the stage lights and colours, so needless to say I was a happy photographer when I saw the lights on stage (and a happy music fan).
Of course, even under the bestest of lighting scenarios there’s always those pesky red floods, which as you may know, make your camera’s sensor lay down it’s gloves and call it a day. As you can see in a few of these, there were red front AND back lights with fog. But, even though my camera checked out, I liked the shots so I worked with some alternate treatments to bring back the detail. I made me some lemonade.
Next up in this series is Gob. Stay tuned.
