Old Dock On The Bay
Yesterday morning I woke up at around 6:15, as I often do, and looked out the window to see some pretty fancy colours on the horizon. So I stumbled around in the dark trying to find my warm clothes without waking anyone up, and jumped into the car without having eaten or taken care of any personal hygiene, so that I could find somewhere to take a picture of it. Ah the glamorous life of a photographer… or maybe it’s just me. Either way, if you happen to run into me taking pictures at 6:30 in the morning, I’m probably hungry and not shaven.
As has happened to me several times now, I found myself rushing to find a place to shoot before the light was gone. I could set an alarm I suppose, so that I was up and ready to go. But for some reason, I seem to prefer leaving it to chance and rushing out the door half dressed when the sunrise is already at it’s peak colour. Anywho… I ended up down on the bay, and as it turned out, the sunrise really never turned out like I had envisioned due to the think layer of clouds (which I had hoped would glow red and orange for me).
So, I figured it was a nice morning so I’d go for a walk anyway. I didn’t get far before I came across this old floating dock that had somehow ended up stuck on the rocks a few feet from shore. My lamenting of the sunrise that never was disappeared and I was fumbling for my ND filter to get setup for a shot before the last of the light was gone.
This is just yet another example of how I somehow ended up with the shot that I had never intended to get!
