Sam Roberts Band at Rogers K-Rock Centre
I may have been tired, but that didn’t matter once the band came out. They took to the stage like a storm and killed every tune they played. By midway through the show, they had just about everyone in the place on their feet dancing (except me… I don’t dance :-)). Combined with the great light show (which included lighting up the clear drum kit, on stage cameras and a projection screen) and great song selection this was one of the best shows I’ve seen in a very long time.
I’ve become a big fan of Sam Roberts’ music but the other reason I was psyched for this concert is that it was my first time shooting a show with my Nikon D750, My trusty D7100 does a decent job, but it struggles a little at high ISOs which usually left me pushing my shutter speed slower to compensate and hoping for the best. But with the energy that Sam Roberts brought to the stage, I would have ended up with blurry or noisy images for sure if I hadn’t been able to use a reasonable shutter speed. Unfortunately, we were shooting from the sound booth instead of the front of the stage, so it was hard to get a variety of images, but I am very pleased with how the D750 performed and I can’t wait for the next show.
