Portrait: The Dead Sparrows
I recently had the pleasure of doing a portrait shoot for The Dead Sparrows on their home turf at Pappa D’s Studios, where they are currently in the process of recording tunes for a new release. I’ve been a fan of The Dead Sparrows ever since seeing them at the first Canadian Indie Music Festival a couple of years ago, and was really excited when they contacted me about doing this shoot.
The shot above was done with a three light setup, using my handy-dandy home made beauty dish boomed overhead as a main light. To fill in the shadows, I used a flash on each side as well as a reflector on the floor.
Once we had enough shots to choose from, I grabbed a few quick shots of the boys messing around for the camera with their gear in the studio :-).
Big thanks to The Dead Sparrows for being so much fun on this shoot. Despite all the joking around, we did manage to get a few “serious” shots. Although, I have it on good authority that if you check out their Facebook page, a few “not-so serious” ones may be on display soon.
