This year’s Canadian Indie Music Festival is shaping up to be the best yet. So far this year’s lineup includes Gob, The Dead Sparrows, Rye and Silence and the winner of the first of two showcases Bonwit Teller.

In a similar format to last year’s festival, bands are competing in one of two showcases for a spot to play. The first showcase was held at the El Mocambo in Toronto on May 17th. The second showcase will be held at the Belle Pub in Belleville on June 14th. Don’t miss it!

I’ll be photographing the the Indie Music Fest again this year, so I headed out to the El Mocambo to check out the first showcase where three great bands were competing for a spot to open for Gob: Vorasek, Super Quest and Bonwit Teller. Throw in a performance by Rye and Silence and it was well worth the trip!
