A Night At The Swindle Shoppe
On Friday night, I headed out to The Swindle Shoppe to check out some new bands…. and well, you know… take some photos and such.
First up for the night was a fine young gentleman by the name of Sky Shaver. He was playing with the Tall Whites, made up of Rex and Stacey, who you’ll probably recognize from some of my photos from yestermonth. I was chatting with Sky before the show and he handed me one his cards with info about his new record (which I’m listening to now, and it’s amazing). He did mention the record was a little more laid back than the live performance, and as you can probably tell from the photos he wasn’t wrong. These guys rocked the house.
Next up was another band I’ve heard a lot about but have never seen that goes by the name T3r3strial (sorry, can’t find their FB or website, if anyone has a link let me know and I’ll add it!). These guys blew the roof off, and if you can find them online go check them out for yourselves… I can’t believe I just said that given that I’m a computer guy. But I can’t find them anywhere on the interweb (help me out people).
Caution, mini photographer’s rant ahead…. as T3r3strial (man it’s hard to type that without e’s) hit the stage, the house lights disappeared. Shooting people jumping around in the dark is not easy (with a camera… or otherwise I suppose). But I sucked it up and figured out how to make something work… welcome to the land of insanely high ISO…. rand over…
Unfortunately I’m an old party pooper, and I had to leave after T3r3strial’s set so I could get home and get my beauty sleep for Saturday’s Art & Sound Festival in Frankford (many, many, many photos from that show to come). The good news is that two of the three bands I missed on Friday also played Saturday!
Boring disclaimer (I know first a rant, now this – but please read on): I know lots of you kind folk like to share these images to you Facebook pages, use them as profile pictures etc. That is totally cool, however I do require that if you do so please remember to give proper photo credits. A caption or comment that reads something like “Photos by Danny Sheppard (dannysheppard.com)” is all I ask in return for using the image (also, no cropping or editing please!). If you’re sharing directly on Facebook a link to my Facebook page is also good. Full usage rights can be found by clicking this link.
