Friday Night Lights

Here are some shots from a recent Friday Night Lights game between the Centennial Chargers and the Moira Trojans. There were actually two games: First up was the junior game then the senior game, which took place under the lights as it was getting pretty dark. Unfortunately I couldn’t be there for the entire game, but I did catch the last ten minutes of junior game and the first quarter of the senior game.

Shooting sports can be pretty challenging, especially at night! Not to mention anticipating the play, being in the right place and capturing the action. As it got darker, I was also pushing my camera to it’s limits. Those lights may look bright, but my camera would like to respectfully disagree.
This was my first time shooting football and I had fun, learned a thing or two, and almost got flattened as a play ran off the sideline (football players running toward are closer than they appear in the viewfinder). I wish I could say I got the shot, but somehow they all ended up out of focus. At least I got out of the way with style and made a few spectators chuckle at my expense.
Can’t wait to try it again!
