Yesterday I spent the afternoon shooting the first ever QuinteMTB Fatbike Rodeo at Batawa Ski Hill, It was a beauty day on the hill and, although it was a bit cold everyone involved had a blast. Just check out all the smiling faces in the photos! I probably should have been riding myself … OK, I really should have been riding given that someone offered to loan me a bike last minute… but truth be told, I would not have lasted too many laps in my current post-winter hibernation condition.

But I wasn’t going to miss this event, so I packed up my camera and headed to the hill. I had initially planned to wander more of the course for photos, but I ended up not going far and shooting mostly around the obstacles that were built just for this event (and will find a new home on some local trails this spring). As you can tell, there was plenty of mud and ice on the trail but everyone made it though the day without injury, although some of the bikes may need a little TLC!

All the folks involved with putting together this race did a fantastic job, and I look forward to more events like this one. Maybe I’ll even put my camera away and join in next time.
