The Trudelles

‘Twas the night before Groundhog Day and all through the pub… well… I’m pretty sure everyone was stirring.  How could you not, with The Trudelles, One Acre War, Vatican Assasins, Kenny and These Dudes all in one show?

I’ve seen, and photographed The Trudelles and One Acre War before (check out the galleries from previous shows), but I’d never seen any of the other bands before. As usual, I was not disappointed. Like I’ve said before, there are some really amazing bands in this area. If you’re a music fan, you need to get out and see for yourself.
For the past couple of shows I’ve struggled quite a bit with low light on the stage, so when the Trudelles started the show, and there was LOTS of light, I breathed a sigh of relief. That lasted for one song! Oh well, back to shooting with nothing but dim red lights. I tried using my flash, but I just wasn’t feeling it, so I dealt with the lights. The result? Some good old fashioned black and white photos. It was either that or red on red with shades of red (bah!).

The Trudelles played an awesome set. These guys write some really amazing songs. I’ve never been one to classify music, so I have no idea what genre they play, it’s just good music. When people ask me what kind of music I like, I reply “I like good music”. On the other hand, there’s always the broad classifications: rock, country, rap, metal, punk… but I think the best classification that I’ve read to describe these next bands is Ass-Kickery.

Before I knew it I was dodging bodies in a push pit, so I scoped out a spot next to a speaker and hung out at the corner of the stage for the rest of the show, with a couple of well timed dashes from one side to the other. The last place I wanted to be with my camera gear was in the middle of that!

The last band of the night was These Dudes. Unfortunately I didn’t get any pictures of them…. remember how I mentioned the low light and the push pit? Well, these guys were as active on stage as they were in the push pit. There was just no way I was going to get a clear picture with the way they were moving around. Next time.
You can find out more about the bands on Facebook.
Vatican Assassins (this was their first show – good job guys!)

Each of the posts on this blog has a button to share to Facebook, Google+ etc. so if you want to share the pics with your friends that’ll do the trick. I also recently added Google +1 and Facebook Like buttons to dannysheppard.com (down on the bottom of the page), so while you’re checking out the galleries, if you like what you see +1 and/or Like the site. The Google +1 will especially help by making Google display my site in search results etc. Thanks!
