Blue Rodeo At The Empire Theatre

I can’t even remember how many times I’ve seen Blue Rodeo in concert over the years. And every time it’s been an amazing show. This one was no exception, with almost three hours of music and a fantastic stage setup with three large screens, live video and some amazing lighting.

Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love shooting local bands. I just wish they had this kind of light show at the Belle Pub :-). I still can’t believe all the great music that I’ve been missing. I’ll be heading out tomorrow night to see some more, provided this cold I feel coming on doesn’t take hold… stay tuned for pictures from that show. I just couldn’t resist bringing my camera to this show…. I mean it’s BLUE RODEO! I’ve been a fan for as long as I can remember, and they’ll be coming out with more new music soon. I can’t wait.

Even with the great stage setup, or maybe because of it, it was hard to get a shot of the entire band because they were spread out and using every inch of the stage. It was especially hard to get a shot of Glenn since he was pretty much in the dark playing the drums. The only shots I got of him were during the acoustic portion of the show. I’ve used this wide crop on lots of landscape pictures and it was perfect for these shots of the entire band.

Of all the times I’ve seen these guys play, I don’t think I’ve ever seen the same keyboard player twice! I don’t know where they find these guys, because they are all outstanding. Aside from Bazil’s bass solos, the keyboard solos are my favourite.

These are some of my favourite images from the night. Click here to see the rest of the gallery.
