Poker Run

As I mentioned before, this year’s Waterfront Festival was a few really busy days for us. This year we decided at the last minute to head down to check out the power boats that were taking part in the poker run on the Bay of Quinte. So we headed down to the bay to have a look, but we quickly realized that from where we stood, on the north side of the bay, we weren’t going to see much.

Then it hit me! The perfect spot to watch would be at Massassauga Point Conservation Area, where the bay was narrow enough that we’d be certain to get an amazing view of the boats as they flew by. But we only had about fifteen minutes before the start of the race. So we talked about it and wasted another five minutes trying to figure out if we could make it in time, before deciding to give it a try. After all, when does an event like this ever really start on time :-). It was a gamble, but it really paid off!
